Product Details The DC-10 (Defensive Carbine, 10 inch) is the intermediate sibling to the DC-7, with a mil-spec receiver and a 10" cold hammer forged chrome lined barrel barrel chambered in 5.56 NATO. The DC-10 utilizes the same fixed op rod design as the Diablo, while possessing a 10" barrel for those that require additional barrel length and added velocity in a short package. Starting with a 10.5" chrome lined barrel with a 1:7 twist, the DC-10 is a true combat carbine. The low profile quad rails give the most possible room for accessories and rail covers are included for when the picatinny rails are not in use. I have spoken with Stacey at PWS and apparently the covers have been changed for quite some time (about 6 months) now but I was not aware and they haven't (YET...supposed to be soon) changed their stock pictures online. The XTM are made for Magpul by ERGO grips and PWS had received some negative feedback on them as well as had issue with them actually falling off during demos with Special Forces units. As a result, they changed to the SCAR Panels made by Tango Down (and included on all current orders). They were designed specifically for the FN SCAR and are made of high quality heat resistant material by Tango Down (another well respected company). Those are actually more expensive covers than the Magpul XTM but were absorbed cost by PWS to improve customer satisfaction. If you would like the XTM still instead, I have them on hand (even though PWS no longer does). If you would prefer the XTM, I will ship you the XTM out of my stock instead, simply put a note in your order.
The DC series uppers utilize a long stroke piston system for additional dwell time and smooth recoil. The DC-10 features a non-protruding top rail and an A2 flash hider. This is done so that the end user may swap the existing muzzle device for the device of their choosing or to thread on a suppressor of their preference. Product User Manual System Features FAQ: What's special about a Hammer Forged Barrel? Hammer forging was developed in Germany in 1939. Here a drilled barrel, rather than being reamed, is honed to give it a very fine interior finish. Then it is placed on a tungsten carbide mandrel that has the entire rifling pattern ground in relief into its surface. The barrel/mandrel combo is then placed between two opposing power hammers and rotated. The hammers literally beat the barrel into the mandrel’s pattern. These barrels are constructed of 4150 Ordnance Grade Steel and are MPI and HP Tested. Cold Hammer Forged Barrels are chambered in 5.56 NATO with a 1:7 twist rate. The bore as well as the chamber are hammer forged and chrome lined. They feature an A4 Barrel Extension and are threaded 1⁄2×28 for a muzzle devise. The exterior is Military Specification Heavy Phosphate coated. These barrels will prove themselves to be more accurate and last longer than a barrel that has cut or button rifling.
